What is the POD?

The POD is the leading online directory for finding recommended tradesmen and property professionals. Over 50,000 tradesmen and property professionals are already listed according to the postcodes they serve.

The site is visited daily by landlords and property owners looking to find recommended professionals to build, maintain and repair their properties.

As the only directory for recommended tradesmen and property professionals recognised by the National Landlords Association, the POD is incredibly active. The NLA’s 13,000 members actively recommend tradesmen and property professionals they use and these people will have a distinctive blue ‘thumbs up’ logo beside their profile.

Tradesmen and property professionals who come recommended from other property owners will also have a ‘thumbs up’ logo – a red one.

The website also has an interactive function so that website users can give tradesmen a score out of five, and can give comments about the quality of service they received. Users who have registered with the POD will see that the link ‘Vote’ pops up next to a supplier’s profile when you search. Please add your comments and score any service you use out of five. Sign up for free via our registration page.

The POD is also a home for free, interactive information on the property sector, including a detailed Knowledge Base, a regular blog from the POD founder, Andy Stern, and an online forum, where users and service providers can share information and advice on the property sector.

How do I search the listings?

The POD is host to a database of more than 50,000 service providers from across the UK, covering Accountants to Chimney Cleaners to Home Information Pack providers to Roofers to Wood Suppliers.

To search our database, all you need to do is enter the full postcode of the property that needs services, choose a category of service from our comprehensive list, and click search to find service providers in the area. To search for a service, click here.

Your results will be listed first by the category you have entered, and local results from related categories will also be listed. For example, if you search for Plumbers, the POD will also give you Plumbing and Heating Supplies and Boiler Installation and Maintenance listed as a second category lower down the page. This means users will always find exactly the kind of service provider they need, and service providers will always be found, no matter how they choose to list themselves.

How do I know a service provider comes recommended?

When a tradesman signs up to the site, they must provide us with two references from satisfied customers before we will list them as a recommended supplier.

If we receive two positive recommendations, we will add a red ‘thumbs up’ next to their profile. If a member of the NLA recommends a tradesman, we will add a blue 'thumbs up' to their profile.

The website also has an interactive function so that users can give tradesmen they have used a score out of five, and can give comments about the quality of service they received. Users who have registered with the POD will see that the link ‘Vote’ pops up next to a supplier’s profile when you search. Please add your comments and score the service out of five. Sign up for free via our registration page.
